Whether you’re shopping for locally made chocolate or the latest bestseller, you can find these items and more in Dupont Circle.

It’s a 28-minute drive from our apartments in District Heights, MD.

Highlights include:

Lou Lou

Established in 2014, Lou Lou is one of the most popular fashion boutiques along the East Coast. Its mission is to help women find their own unique style. Owner Tara Wegdam has an eye for quality and design, and she handpicks the items to ensure they’re on-trend. The varied selection includes beaded necklaces, crossbody bags, and butterfly scarves.

Tabletop

Tabletop is an eclectic boutique where you can find gifts for that hard-to-buy-for someone. The shop was established in 2003 after a husband and wife duo and their friend realized Dupont Circle was missing a shop that sold gifts and home accessories. The varied selection focuses on fun, color, and affordability. Choices include vases, dish sets, and picture frames. Shoppers also find handmade jewelry by Daphne. She creates using sterling silver and gold plated steel, with pieces including hoop earrings and one-of-a-kind necklaces.

Kramerbooks & Afterwords Cafe

When Kramerbooks opened in 1976, it became the first bookstore/cafe in Washington DC. It’s the area’s most beloved reading destination, and the shelves are stocked with all genres. The staff is friendly, and they enjoy helping visitors find their new favorite authors.

The cafe boasts a lively setting, and the American fare is made from locally sourced ingredients. Offerings include crab omelets, cheddar waffles & fried chicken, and veggie lasagna. Don’t miss the live performances of the Blue Dot Jazz Band every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evening.
