Do you want to enjoy a cool treat this summer?

If so, head to one of these ice cream parlors near our pet-friendly apartments in District Heights, MD:

Ice Cream Jubilee

Victoria believes that ice cream is the perfect excuse to create happy memories with family and friends. She started making this delicious treat in her kitchen. After working long hours at the Department of Homeland Security, she would come home and create new recipes. When Victoria decided to share them with others, Ice Cream Jubilee was born. The flavors are made in small batches using all natural-cream and milk from a local creamery. They rotate and may include peanut butter chocolate, papaya pina colada, and whiskey toasted marshmallow.

Pop’s Old Fashioned Ice Cream

At Pop’s, the motto is “Life Is Short, Eat Dessert First.” Founder Ray “Pop” Giovanni began working in the ice cream industry in the 1940s. He spent the early part of his career at the White House where he served First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt her favorite ice cream. Ray left behind his black book of recipes in 1990. Today, the shop carries on the legacy that made the First Lady happy. The charming atmosphere features chalkboard menus, a bright red ceiling, and a black-and-white checkered floor. Flavors include black raspberry, pralines & cream, and peanut butter chocolate pretzel.

Mount Desert Island Ice Cream

At Mount Desert, the premium ice cream is made in no more than five gallons at a time. It’s not to be missed as Food & Wine calls it one of “America’s Top 25 Ice Cream Parlors.” The shop offers forward-thinking flavors and generous portions. Choices include maple walnut, toasted coconut, and coriander berry streusel.
